During cold season, it is a must to keep your dog warm. If you have a small dog like Maltese or Yorkshire Terrier you may want to consider buying some dog clothes to keep at home, for instance like a jacket to help keep them warm.
A handful of dog owners, does not know it is important to keep their dogs warm during winter. Luckily for them, there are a few ways to do this. While you choose for an appropriate outerwear for your dog, choose dog clothes that is easy for you to put on and not a struggle for your dog when wearing it. Many dogs are not used to wearing coat or dog clothes so you may need to train them.
Here’s how: Simply put the coat on for a few hours each day and while having the coat on their body, give them some healthy dog treats. Your dog will slowly get used to wearing the coat because they are trained to know that when wearing the coat,when they are made to wear the thick coat, you will always have healthy dog treats for them.
When shopping for dog clothes, many only chooses outfit that is cute, or nice looking for their dogs. But these people do not know that material on the dog clothes is also important. Choose materials that are durable and easy to care for. Or during winter time, look for water resistant materials so that your dog clothes will not get wet and make your dog sick. Another tip is to consider getting dog boots for dogs who that walk a lot because this will help them avoid stepping on ice, snow and salt which will sometimes make them uncomfortable their paws. Know your dog’s measurement and follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure it fits properly.
There are many other ways to keep your dog warm during winter. For instance, think about putting a warm blanket in their dog bed. You just have to think creatively or if you are still unsure how to, go to a local pet store and ask for advise.

petsmart but don’t buy hamsters or fish or any pets from there. they get them from pets mills.
they don’t need sweaters in the fall if their fur is long and thick they have a layer of fur. but when it gets very cold, they need one. but smaller and short haired dogs may need sweaters in fall and heavy ones in winter.
fast forward to 0:59 and save yourself the grief.
My Yorkie's have an assortment of sweat-shirts, jackets, sweaters,and rain and hooded snow gear for the cold of late fall until the spring time. I have these items as they do not have an undercoat for protection and they are prone to bronchial/pneumonia problems. Not to mention that they are simply cold! I purchases them all over. Good old Wal-Mart has them for $5 up, Petsmart has great sales at end of season, Tuesday Morning has a pet selection; lot's of it on clearance, too. Many pet-shops carry a complete line of clothing, and there are many boutiques devoted to accessories and clothing for dogs. There are thousands of dog clothes for sale on line. That is fun…looking at all of the wonderful selections. I do not dress them up unless the weather calls for it, I have enough laundry to do without adding more. Oh, not to mention a good reason for protecting the long haired dog's coats is, more drying, brushing, and trying to get ice-balls out of the underarm and belly area. i have 3 dogs, all are "working dogs", …doing pet therapy.
I buy all of their outfits in department store, in the BABY DEPARTMENT!…..my littlest dog takes "3 months" old,..my largest dog wears a "4T"…
I've saved a lot of money this way, ..as they wear many outfits….so you can get them at walmart….or wherever, so much cheaper than actual "dog outfits"…and they look adorable, i get many compliments.
I just bought my shih tzu a black velvet tuxedo vest….in the baby department at wall mart last week, was about 3 dollars, ..at the pets store , ..outfits are around 20 bucks a peice!….good luck to you.
Since dogs, unlike kids, do not care about the latest fashion, see if the local SPCA has a thrift shop.
target sells them and some times old navy carries stuff as well
I would agree that smaller dogs from warmer climes such as chihuahuas probably do need some extra protection in the colder weather. On larger dogs though, it’s an extravagance.

do not dress your dog if you dress your dog it should only be because its very cold outside and if it is he should wear COMFORTABLE clothes i don't think you should dress him

It probably has something to do with location. I'm in Maryland, and they have all season apparel at the petsmart near me. They have raincoats, performance fleece, shirts and sweaters. Ask a store associate or call the corporate headquarters.
