As a dog owner, do you have any dog clothes for your wagging wonder? If you answered yes, then you are not alone. Over the past several years, the dog clothes industry has exploded as a growing number of pet owners have started dressing their canine companions. No doubt, this trend began with the Hollywood film industry portraying dog actors as fashion conscience complimenting their human sidekicks. Movies such as Legally Blonde and Hotel for Dog’s coupled with Hollywood celebrities’ personal pooches dressing to match their owners and it is no wonder the dog clothes industry has spiked.
In the not so distant past pet owners would not have dreamed of outfitting their pet in dog clothes such as a dog dress or dog costume for a private party let alone prancing around in public with their dog in fashion functional dog clothes. Today, however, fashionably accessorized dogs do not have to be Hollywood stars. People are dressing their dogs in costumes and seating with people watching their favorite sports team with Fido fashionably dressed in a dog t-shirt displaying the team logo. You can even outfit your dog in her own bridesmaid dog dress to take part in your nuptials.
The evolution of the dog clothes industry is not unlike the human clothing industry. Dog clothes began with functional only clothing from dog coats and dog sweaters designed specifically as protection from foul weather. As people began to knit their own dog sweaters they added a little fashion to the style, sizes fit their dog’s body and so on. Today, dog apparel is only limited by imagination while still keeping true to function and protection.
As the pet industry continues to grow with dog friendly hotels, restaurants and bars so will dog clothes. Pet owners more and more are taking their canines on vacation where swimming and boating are part of the daily activities. Providing a dog life vest is the result of a conscience pet owner instead of a fashion accessory. Apartment living is once again in fashion so too will the need for dog coats and dog sweaters not to mention dog boots for not just for those snowy days but for harmful debris a dog could walk through.
Winter is approaching and with it comes the cold weather; shorthaired dogs and smaller breeds will benefit from a warm dog coat or dog sweater. If you’re a dog owner and have yet to experience dog apparel and what it will do for the family pet, this is a great place to start. Let your dog get into the festivities with the whole family.

It probably has something to do with location. I'm in Maryland, and they have all season apparel at the petsmart near me. They have raincoats, performance fleece, shirts and sweaters. Ask a store associate or call the corporate headquarters.
Provided she's living indoors, actually she will be fine with her natural coat – she will grow a thicker coat with the onset of Winter. And to be honest, if you give her a coat to wear indoors, you will, to some extent, stop this from happening naturally.
However, if you do want to put her in a coat, for outdoor walking particularly (I lived in Toronto for years, and know what you are talking about), try Ebay. I buy my Whippet coats on there – there are loads available and you might find Greyhound/Whippet coat companies also do coats for other breeds.
My Bassets coped fine with a Toronto Winter, without being 'rugged up'. We didn't go out on the worse, blizzard, days mind you.
I have a 1.5 pound Yorkie and had trouble finding clothes small enough for her. Even xsmall is to big but I found a shop on ebay that is wonderful, check it out…

Well cats are much too independent to wear clothing that you the human has decided to put on them. They are either going to just lay there and look at you like you are crazy or they are going to freak and run through the house. Cats are not here to impress you, you are here to impress them. So save the clothes for your dogs, and don't make your cat miserable by putting clothes of him.
1) Use dryer sheets to prevent static cling on your clothes.
2) Brush your dogs regularly.
3) Get a lint roller to use on any fur that may still be around.
I don't think that it gets cold enough in Georgia to warrant a dog sweater. Talk to your vet first, and make sure that it won't be too hot for your little friend.
My Yorkie's have an assortment of sweat-shirts, jackets, sweaters, and rain and hooded snow gear for the cold of late fall until the spring time. I have these items as they do not have an undercoat for protection and they are prone to bronchial/pneumonia problems. Not to mention that they are simply cold! I purchases them all over. Good old Wal-Mart has them for $5 up, Petsmart has great sales at end of season, Tuesday Morning has a pet selection; lot's of it on clearance, too. Many pet-shops carry a complete line of clothing, and there are many boutiques devoted to accessories and clothing for dogs. There are thousands of dog clothes for sale on line. That is fun…looking at all of the wonderful selections. I do not dress them up unless the weather calls for it, I have enough laundry to do without adding more. Oh, not to mention a good reason for protecting the long haired dog's coats is, more drying, brushing, and trying to get ice-balls out of the underarm and belly area. I tried boots for the icy times, but they either kicked or bit them off! Happy Shopping, Angel Wolf 13
yes just don't put those hats on them or tight clothes, just make sure they are comfortable.
